Partnership was announced during LAAD 2023
Akaer, a strategic Brazilian defense companyspecializing in the development of cutting-edge technologies for the Defense, Aerospace and Industry 4.0 sectors, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the EDGE Group of the United Arab Emirates.
The document provides for extensive cooperation between the two companies with the aim of developing and producing very high technology systems and equipment in the aerospace and defense sector in both countries.
Akaer announced the partnership on April 14, during LAAD 2023, the most important Defense and Security trade show in Latin America, which took place between April 11 and 14, in Rio de Janeiro. The document was signed by Akaer CEO, Cesar Silva, and VP-Strategic Programs Edge HQ, Ahmed Hasan Alkhoori.
In addition to the agreement with EDGE, the company brought exclusive news to the exhibition, such as hybrid UAVs , new satellite cameras and the announcement of new partnerships.
The Partnership
The EDGE Group, formed by 24 companies, is the largest defense company in the United Arab Emirates, being considered a regional reference in terms of defense technology. The conglomerate has been creating opportunities in aviation services, autonomous capabilities, directed energy, cyber-physical systems , advanced propulsion systems, robotics and smart materials.
Among the projects foreseen in the MOU is the development of laser fuzes and also of a dual “Seeker” for missiles. Also considered were the design of laser “guide” kits for 70 mm missiles and aircraft for special missions.
All projects will initially go through an evaluation phase and if they become commercially viable, they may be approved by the partners and put into practice.
The agreement provides for the joint study of different projects and products, always with a view to applying high technology from both countries and entering the global market.
