AKAER PRESENTS NEW UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS

Launch took place during the Defense and Security Fair in Rio de Janeiro

The Brazilian company Akaer exhibited, during LAAD 2023, a new family of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (or UAS – Unmanned Aerial System), which are at different stages of development and conceptual maturity. The novelty is one of Akaer’s strengths during its participation in the most important trade event for the Defense and Security in Latin America, LAAD, which took place between April 11th and 14th, in Rio de Janeiro.

Since 2019, Akaer has been developing Unmanned Aircraft Systems solutions, as required by international customers. An example is the Albatross, a system composed of a class 3 aircraft with a basic weight of 1000 kg, a ground control center and a communication system. The Albatross was designed for maritime patrol and aerial reconnaissance. However, due to market demand, the model was recently adjusted for a paid load of weapons of up to 320 kg.

“Osprey”, the new Akaer UAV

As a result of several contacts with the Armed Forces, users of this type of system, Akaer developed the conception of a version of a single-engine UAS system called “Osprey”. This single-engine aircraft features a mission profile much like its bigger brother, the Albatross.

The Osprey was designed for maritime or land air reconnaissance and light ground attack missions. The Aircraft has high commonality with the Albatross, which allows the optimization of missions and the operational cost of the fleet.

Both the Albatross and the Osprey share the same ground and communications systems. The AKR-HA, Akaer ‘s new concept for stratosphere missions.

Always with a keen eye on future market demands, Akaer is targeting a new step: creating an aircraft capable of flying above 50,000 feet (15 km) in altitude with the ability to perform sensing missions and possibly relay communications.

UAV operations over the horizon. With a much lower cost than a satellite and with a much better electromagnetic signal latency, HAPS (High Altitude – Pseudo Satellite) is a necessity for a country with the land and ocean surface of Brazil.
